Here's my second Heavy Accents remix! It's of Delta Spirit, an indie rock band from San Diego, CA, and their song "California" (how fitting) off of their self-titled 2012 album. The stems were provided for a Lollapalooza remix contest, but I figured I liked the song enough (I heard it played on KCRW many times and the lyrics always stuck in my head) that I'd steal the stems and put together this bootleg remix just for fun.

Instead of going for a more traditional dance pace, I kept the track at its original tempo and kept the vocals and most of the guitar work in place (with a few tweaks). Below are links to stream and download the remix. Cheers!
Before everyone gets caught up in holiday fervor this year and forgets to read my blog :-( but then again, not like people are checking this often / posts are made on the regular--I'd like to gift you one last golden audio nugget of indie/rock & disco chillness for 2011. Talk about a time dilation since Part One of my Dilations mixtape. I present to you with Part Two. This second half is more homogenous genre-wise (house / electro / techno). Opening (the intro might sound familiar...) and closing things up is Canblaster. I'm a big fan.
Now for the true origin behind the title "Dilations"; I've always been a big sci-fi fan (yes, moment of truth). Lots of times when you have a story (take the original Planet Of The Apes film, for example) about persons traveling through space, there's always the acceleration and time dilation factor of getting from Point A to Point B, since space is super vast and travel takes forever. In a matter of a few Earth years, Charlton Heston's crew travelled 1,000s of years through space since they had the means to move at lightspeed. They barely aged but (spoiler alert) ended up waaaay in the future. You can Google the rest on time dilation; for now check out this Dilations' Point B.

Loft Saves The Day is the first mixtape for the weekly Dim Mak Studios Tuesday party born out of the ashes of Dim Mak Tuesdays at Cinespace. The title is a play on the name of David Mancuso's underground dance party "Love Saves The Day" at his infamous venue/living space, The Loft, back in the 1970s in New York.

Here's my first remix ever under the Heavy Accents name. I've been trying to find the right production tools to work with (and the right sound; I'm still experimenting but you have to start somewhere right?), but all I know is that I fell in love with the original Twin Sister track the first time I heard it.
I grabbed the "All Around and Away We Go" stems instantly once I realized that the band was freely distributing them. I sat down the vocal stem one night, and so began this remix that I couldn't put down for the next few days. To welcome in 2010 on the blog, I give you volume three of Disco Desire. I think it's definitely the more amourous mixtape of the three (I didn't anticipate so many love songs, disco made me do it!).
There's a couple of DFA tracks (Walter Jones, James Curd) and Morgan Geist-related cuts (Margueritas, Metro Area), some newer finds (The Revenge, Tensnake, 40 Thieves, Ilija Rudman), and of course I couldn't forget the classic jams (Chic, Kitty Grant's Chas Jankel cover, Was Not Was, Space, Boney M).

I decided to record a mix separate from the usual fare of music, with an emphasis this time on retro/italo/nu -disco. It's meant to be played for your post-clubbing needs, or as an excuse to stay in on a hot Summer night.
