MIXTAPE: DYFAO!

DYFAO!, or Dance Your Fucking Ass Off!, was inspired by the Party Rock aesthetic of LMFAO, triple distilled through the Heavy Accents sound. Confused yet? You shouldn't be. I've put together my latest favorite tracks, a handful I spin and the rest I hope will make you spin and DYFAO!

This was a fun one to compile, and it comes loaded with lots of easter eggs. Aside from a remix and original from Holy Ghost! and DatA each, there's an excellent Daft Punk cover by The Twelves, an In Flagranti edit of a certain Clash song, Sam Sparro vocals on Beni's track, and a Calvin Harris touch behind Dizzee Rascal's "Holiday". Enjoy and namaste.

MIXTAPE: Last Night Heavy Accents Saved My Life

Saw Yelle last night at Henry Fonda, and can I say she, Grand Marnier, and Tepr were amazing live. It was a Flashdance flashback dance party with the cutest French aerobics instructor alive. And I've never seen the Fonda that fucking packed. Only bummed that we missed Passion Pit open (whyyy did Funeral Party not open?) :(

Anyways, I just recorded a new mixtape earlier this week, Last Night Heavy Accents Saved My Life. I decided to slow things down and throw in some oldies but goodies (Tom Tom Club, Hot Chip, Rokysopp, Indeep) and I especially want to point out the much under-rated Daft Punk classic from 2001, "Short Circuit" (come on, it won a f'king got nominated for a Grammy!), is on there.

Also check out the Hercules & Love Affair track, which has convinced me the lesbian singer in it has one of the best voices in music today, and look out for Private (they used to be the band Superheroes from Denmark which I absolutely think is the shit, they're also friends with Junior Senior) with another under-rated song if you haven't heard about them already. I had fun with this one, don't sleep on it.

TRACKLIST:
1. M.I.A. - Pɐper Plɐnes (DFA Rǝmıx)
2. Beck - Ghettochip Malfunction (8-Bit Remix)
3. The Chemical Brothers ft. Spank Rock - Keep My Composure
4. U-Tern - Set Your Flag On Fire
5. Tom Tom Club - Genius Of Love
6. Munk ft. James Murphy & Nancy Whang - Kick Out The Chairs (Whomadewho Remix)
7. I Scream Ice Cream - Closing Time Closing In
8. Hot Chip - The Beach Party
9. Royksopp - Eple
10. MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)
11. Private - My Secret Lover
12. Hercules & Love Affair - Athene
13. Indeep - Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
14. Daft Punk - Short Circuit
